Snickerdoodles

This is not my own recipe but it is one that I have mastered.  I've been making these for as long as I can remember.  This recipe is the reason why I have at least 3 things of Cream of Tartar in my pantry at all times......what's cream of tartar anyway??

Preheat oven to 375*

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour

2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

In a mixing bowl (i use a kitchen aid) beat the butter for 30 seconds.  Add the 1 cup sugar, baking soda, and cream of tartar.  Beat till combined.  Beat in eggs and vanilla.  Add flour.

Cover dough and chill for at least 1 hour

Combine the 2 TBSP sugar & 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Shape dough into 1 inch balls & roll balls in the cinnamon, sugar mixture to coat.  Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. ( i usually push to dough down lightly with a fork but that's optional)

Bake in 375* oven for 10 to 11 minutes..

This recipe doesn't make very many cookies not even 2 dozen.  I usually double the recipe unless i'm making them just for my family.
